IVF Timeline (1): The Egg Acquisition

Over the last few days, I had a very nice email update from my Nurse Coordinator, saying that the Egg Donor {referred to as "Mia"} had her submitted Genetics Profile crosschecked with Otters. There is no issues what so ever, so we are Golden! She outlined a few more of the next steps, and I was very relieved.

I had a smidge of .... not quite impatience... but, like... I had an "In The Dark" vibe going for a hot minute. I don't need hard facts, I just work better with less surprises. It's really hard when -for right now- the point of contact is literally me. Trying to get these different facilities to communicate together.

Fast-forward to today, which was a bit cramped with To-Do items. First thing, I had my frickin 4+hour Iron Infusion. While I was there in my nice La-Z-Boy Recliner, I was number crunching and organizing a few more months (farther out than I normally do) in my Day Planner... which was allowing me to be prepared for my later To-Do items. I actually tried calling the bank while I was in there, but the reception quality was terrible and I ended up having to hang up.

Once I hit that roadblock, I decided to write out a page of my own rates/figures, with a range of numbers and approximate monthly payments. I get a bit nervous when I'm put on the spot (especially with financial institutions) so - YES- I understand my method might seem very "extra" but it gives me confidence that I can better keep up with the impending conversation.

I came straight home, then after looking over ALL the email documents that had been sent over from the Egg Bank (in case there was something I missed) I then called the bank. Below is a glimpse into some of the numbers and labeling from my Day Planner I made sure to reference.

We were approved for and proceeded to accept the loan for 32,700.00
The payments, which I EXPLICITLY set to sync with my paydays, are $298.00.
We still set the length for 72 months (which is why the payment is as low as it is).
The interest rate came back higher than I'd like, but I still got my Amount and Payments where I needed them, so all is well.

I had a momentary MASSIVE PANIC when I was "put on a brief hold" while we waited for the authorization to come back. The second  the phone went silent, I realized I had NEVER CONSIDERED IT NOT BEING APPROVED.

Thank god it was only like [45 seconds]. He came back and was like "Congratulations!" and I like, couldn't breath. Holy Shit. I mean, you wanna talk about a million scenarios running through my head ... like realizing we wouldn't get a precious DISCOUNT they offered if we submitted our Egg Acquisition by July 31 ...  or the rest of my whole GAMEPLAN being fu*ked!!

Other topics we discussed before we got off the phone: Funds should be deposited by tomorrow, Friday at the latest. They 100% do wires via phone, so I'm just going to call and get the funds taken care of AS SOON AS the money hits the account.

ANYWAY. It was approved. Dodged that bullet. What a spontaneous fu*king roller coaster.

Next Up:  Notary. We called our local, brick & mortar banks, to see if they had Free Notary Services (they do, but the Notary was out on vacation). Ultimately, UPS stores also offer Notary services for like $6.00. So, after we both submitted our E-Documentation/E-Signature legal paperwork, we took those few articles out to be notarized.

Once coming home, I sat and filled out the CryoShipping forms.

  $ 32,700.00    Loan Amount
  -  19,650.00   Egg Bank, Cohort (6)

  $ 13,050.00    Remaining
   -   1,366.00    CryoStork Shipping
   -----------------
  $ 11,684.00     Remaining

That is as far as the official tally goes. We meet with the Financial Coordinator to go over more items, and I have a tentative list of the Genetics Lab (for sperm isolation, egg thaw, fertilization, incubation, etc.) which is around $10,250.00 but some of those figures had some redundancy (price for 1 PGT-A and a separate fee listed for a "bundle" package price)
