Ipsy: March 2021

My highly anticipated March Ipsy Bag!!!

My excitement over this bag was obnoxious. When I signed back up, I realized they were doing things a little different than before. This time around, there are different Levels, or tiers, of bags you can sign up for... as well as +Upgrades you can throw in - fairly cheap - some $5.00 some $10.00, etc.

I opted for the traditional, uncomplicated, standard GlamBag. Honestly, I am just super stoked to be back in the "Swag Bag" game.

1      OUAI     Leave-In Conditioner
QUICK TAKE: I feel like this may be a bit too heavy for my fine/thin hair. While going through my normal hair routine, I simply switched out my CAVIAR hair milk for the OUAI leave-in conditioner, and my hair is substantially more oily than before the switch. Now, the question is "Is more frequent shampooing worth it?" Possibly. It may be the entire purpose = more conditioning, thus making the need for more frequent cleansing. Or.. it could very well still be "User Error" and I simply need more time to get my proportions and technique down. Other than that, the scent completely appeals to me. Can't quite put my finger on it, but something beachy and airy. I'm not giving up just yet. I was very hyped about trying this and I'm going to give it a fighting chance!

2     LOTTIE     Slay All Day Liquid Lipstick in "So Good"
QUICK TAKE: I just need to take actual lipsticks off my Ipsy. They get so, so close but the color is just never right - NOT a strike on Ipsy, I have the same problem MYSELF and in person. Sometimes, I get it home and it ends up looking completely different in home lighting. Wrong shade aside, the formula seems really legit. It was intensely creamy and smooth, but ironically not heavy. The color was nice and bold, consistency was soft, not tacky - and best of all, no overwhelming chemical taste.

3     SOPHIA + MABELLE     Woke Up Like This Primer
QUICK TAKE: Serious primer. I'm setting aside until I dust off more of my make-up skills (we've been in pandemic mode for too long) and I will experiment more with this. Soft yet THICK consistency, but if you wanted a base -- THIS IS IT. I wasn't quite prepared for this level of expertise in my first Ipsy box back in the game.

4     ARACELI BEAUTY     Ojos Perfectos Eyeliner in "Noche"
QUICK TAKE: Again, something that seems like a "must have" in every make-up collection... but I hardly ever use. I need to take this one off my Ipsy list also. This is also not a strike against Ipsy, I just can't master/get used to liquid liner. I can't help it, I'm intimidated and I suck at application. I did swatch this on my hand. It stayed forever, even after washing.. and the line was micro-fine. so if you want an ultra-precise liquid liner with staying power, this seems to be a serious contender.

5     THE CREME SHOP     Fusion Sheet Mask Duo (Blueberry/Banana & Peaches N Cream)
QUICK TAKE: I don't think I will turn down any kind of sheet mask. I love them and think of the entire experience as a treat. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of overly sweet- sweet- sweet scents. Reminds me of being in elementary school and playing with kid lotions and the obnoxious LipSmackers flavors. However, with a name like "The Creme Shop" I don't think there's any escaping their "flavor" selections. The scent didn't put me off to the point I couldn't enjoy my sheet mask treatment, but this is not a brand I would ever purchase for myself. The mask itself was a bit difficult to unfold as there was no "backing" like some have, so I had to struggle through all the jelly-esque product to find an edge, but it was so heavy that it kept flapping back down on itself.

OUAI Leave-In Conditioner because it has so much potential and I have been down this road of having to figure out "proper usage" before. I'm not going to write off a potentially wonderful product because it didn't work miracles on the first attempt. Once the bottle is empty, I'll decide whether or not it purchase worthy.

I opted for the SOPHIA & MABELLE Primer as my special pick. Again, with this being my first bag back in the game, I probably took it way too seriously. I looked at my organizer and was like, weighing my options about what my current stash was lacking..... and PRIMER it was.
