Finishing Touches

So we snuck by the house today.. Made our regular trip over to the house today. After we received the email of our closing date, but before we got our call-back to answer questions. Our call-back came right as we were pulling away from the house, actually.

The windows were locked, so I literally put my phone against the window and zoomed in to take this photo. Look at the hardware!! I felt the kitchen was so pretty before the hardware, but now it has an extra bit of pizazz! I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

I've been waiting anxiously to see how it would turn out because NONE of the other houses (or models!) have any hardware! We are the first ones (which is still baffling to me). We weighed our options when it came to this upgrade... and decided to do it because our current cabinets have hardware and we use the hell out of them, specifically, even my kitchen hand towels have a little loop to slip over the knobs (they came like that, I didn't customize them or anything).. and in the bathroom, they are folded and slipped through the handles.

I wasn't expecting much from the builder-grade hardware. I've had every intention on upgrading to sleek & modern from the very beginning, I just needed the holes to be put in the right spot and the guarantee they'd be level & straight. Believe it or not, it was cheaper to have them do it upon building than to hire someone after the fact.

Separately, I love the warmth the floors give everything. Almost all of the models we walked through had white-on-white-on-white... and it just looks so freaking washed out and bland. Don't get me wrong... I wanted bright, but warm & inviting - not stark & clinical.
